A rose by any other name.....

My last post was all about the movies. I commented that I have not seen Gone with the Wind. I should also mention that I am named after Melanie from Gone with the Wind, Scarlett's sister. I have commented to my mother that I don't appreciated being named after the sickly Melanie. This pisses her off every time I say it as she believed Melanie to be the strong sister. Hmmm, now that I think about it I sure seem to piss my Mom off a lot.

My middle name is Jill. My Dad gave me this name because he was in love with Jill St. John. One of my sisters has the same middle name - guess he was really diggin' Jill.

Anyway, who is your namesake?

I don't know that I have a namesake.. I was supposed to be named Caroline, but instead I got the old lady's name... I'm sick of hearing Nancy Reagan... Then even worse is the middle name.. Cause then i get Barbara Bush... It's bad when both my names are as old as presidents wives.... ho hum...

Namesake...my dad named both my sister and I. Rachel and Leah after 2 sisters in the bible. But Rachel was the younger of the two. Rachel was also the prettier of the two so at least he got that one right...not! If you've seen Leah she's gorgeous. So, moral of the story is that I can thank my dad for the sperm donation as well as my name to go with it.

I was named Richard after my father, and I wanted to call my son Richard as well, but I was vetoed by my wife because he'd then be Richard III. I thought that was the best reason to call him Richard. Ho-hum nevermind. Anyway, we settled on Cuthbert Eugene Qubert

i was told that my mom had a good friend in high school who's name was jenny...my parents didn't like jenny (i don't either), but they did like jennifer. and it became jennifer marie because that has a nice ring to it when you have to yell it. however, i believe that i was almost melissa for a brief moment. glad i ended up with the name i have even if i know about 800 other jennifers;)

My given name was taken after a character on a tv show: Laura Petrie from "The Dick Van Dyke Show." (Sidebar: I delighted Melanie with my dead-on impersonation of her "oooooohhhhh Rob")

My middle name is Christine - a saint my mom chose because in order to be baptized Catholic, at least one of your names (back then) had to be a saint's name.

In case anyone was wondering, the nickname Lo Lo was given to me by a friend of mine at work who wanted to shorten my name like J-Lo's. However, my last name is NOT Lopez, nor does it start with an L. Yeah, I'm pretty sure she was taking crack that day...

My middle name is Jeanne, like my second oldest sister's first name. I think my parents had a thing for Brigadoon. Jeanne suggested Susan for my name; my parents agreed.

I have to say, Melanie was a simpering goody goody. I like women with spunk, even if they are bitchy sometimes.
